ESSSE | General Information
Project 1 | Respect for diversity
Project 2 | Gender representation in professional childhood fields in ESSSE

The professional field of the social and sanitary sector in general and the childhood sector in particular is almost exclusively feminine. The place of men in the day care centres is often questioned. Sometimes, their presence is strongly encouraged by employers, professionals and parents and sometimes it sets off suspicion or even rejection. In fact, this real presence provokes the resurgence of bias, stereotypes and roles traditionally given to each of the two sexes. Therefore the sexual character appears to be more important than their functions and their professional missions.

The evolution of the society has driven us to take into account new social relation of mix with families and at work, the appearance of new familial models (recomposed families, single parent, homosexual parents) and the fight against all forms of discrimination and violence (familial, urban, physical and psychological violence). Therefore so the recognition and valorisation of the position of male professionals in the education of young children holds utmost importance in link with respect for diversity perspective.

With this perspective, the department of education, of young children of ESSSE , (in link with the city of LYON , and other centres of education of young children in Paris , and a trainer and researcher in childhood parity field) manage a project for the development and the mix in professional field of childhood.

For 2 years, we have been working in training activities with students about the parity in training centre and day care centres

We have streamlined 2 axes:

  • Initial and in service training for students linked with the professional sector. One modality of this axis is to facilitate and organize exchanges between students in practice training, This can help the development of student and professional networks.
  • Professional  and evolution of careers

This project inscribes in favour of equality of opportunities between men and women with respect to childhood professions.
