Agency MUTANT is a small independent
firm supporting professionals and institutions in early childhood
education, welfare and health care in innovative methods, in training
and consulting. The agency started in 1989. Three partners (Anke
van Keulen, Fuusje de Graaff, Wendy Doeleman) collaborate in the
agency with a pool of free lance trainers and consultants. A council
of experts, based in universities, local policy and migrant organisations,
advises the MUTANT agency annually. The agency publishes a newsletter
twice a year and runs a website: www.mutant.nl
The agency runs projects by order local governments and national
or local non- governmental organisations. Respect for diversity
is a key issue in all projects.
MUTANT is specialized in:
transferring academic research and information from
daily practices into tools, instruments and programmes for professionals;
breaking boundaries between several sectors by using
knowledge and experience from one sector to another;
developing innovative methods.
At the moment the agency has five programmes:
a. developing and implementing the programmes 'Parents and Diversity'
and 'I am I and you are you. Education without prejudice'
(development projects, implementation, publications, training,
networking)
b. access to and transfer of academic research on styles in child
raising at different ethnic communities,
(research, publications, organising round table meetings)
c. refugees (research, publications, supporting refugee associations,
conferences, training, workshops)
d. early childhood education, preschool programmes and youth health
care (development project, research, training, publications)
e. training courses, workshops and coaching
(examples: Parents and Diversity, Persona Dolls, Young children
coping with conflicts, Intercultural communication and mediation)
Since the start MUTANT has been an active member of the DECET
