Diversity in Early Childhood Education and Training
Partners
At the moment ten organisations make up the DECET network. All partner organisations meet once a year for the annual partner meeting. The venue of the meeting rotates and is often connected to a national conference of a partner organisation.
Workpacks
To work towards the joint creation of concrete products that promote diversity issues, three projects so called “Workpacks” - have been established. Each partner participates in at least one of the three workpacks. Each workpack is coordinated by a workpack manager (limited to the period set for the workpack), who through this function is also a member of the steering group. The workpack managers take on budget responsibilities for the workpack and coordinate all actions within the workpack.
Overall coordination
One organisation in the network is asked to undertake the task of overall coordination. This period is limited to three years, after which overall coordination rotates to the next partner organisation. The overall coordinators and the workpack managers work together in the steering group, where they among others - prepare meetings and develop and plan strategies to be presented and discussed at the plenary sessions.
Associate partners
Organisations wishing to join the network go through a semi-formal application procedure, which includes exchanges with network partners, presenting the organisation to the partners, filling in the application form of the DECET network and a trial phase of one year after which a final decision is taken by both the network and the applying organisation.
Bernard van Leer Foundation
The DECET network is funded by the Bernard van Leer Foundation (www.bernardvanleer.org) The network also seeks supplementary funding (e.g. European Social Fund or other EU programmes, grants from other foundations) in order to support the aims of the network.
